SBP has a new executive officer
LT Michael Levine has reported as executive officer for the Small Boat Program. He recently completed an assignment as Operations Officer and Executive Officer on NOAA Ship Oscar Dyson, Kodiak, AK. His prior assignments were as Marine Operations Officer for the Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary, Port Angeles, WA, and Operations Officer, NOAA Ship Gordon Gunter, Pascagoula, MS. His small boat experience comes from the NOAA ships as well as operating and maintaining the 40' R/V Tatoosh and a 22' RHIB at the Olympic Coast sanctuary. He is originally from New Jersey and has a B.A. in biology from Colby College, and M.A. in biology from Boston University and worked with the Northeast Fisheries Science Center in Woods Hole, MA prior to joining the NOAA Corps. He looks forward to working at the NOAA Small Boat Program. He will be located at MOC-P, in Seattle, with the SBP and his number is 206-553-7590, his email is Michael.Levine@noaa.gov.
SBP has a new inspection coordinator
Please welcome the newest member of the Small Boat Program team, Darel McCormick. Mr. McCormick came on board as the Inspection Coordinator on August 31st. Mr. McCormick comes to NOAA from the Washington State Ferries where he held the position of Fleet/ Facility Security Officer. Prior to that he had a distinguished 25 year career with the USCG, retiring in 2008 as a CWO4. Mr. McCormick retired as Senior Marine Inspector at Marine Safety Detachment St. Thomas, VI. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the program and will begin standardizing the inspection program immediately.
